Arrest Records in Hinsdale County
The Hinsdale County Sheriff's Office is the main local arrest and incident-record custodian. Lake City has no separate police department. Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, U.S. Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management officers may also act in the county. Each creating agency keeps its own report, so the badge on the incident matters.
An arrest history links events over time. The officer's report describes alleged conduct. A receiving jail adds booking, custody, fingerprint, photo, bond, and release data. If prosecutors file charges, the Combined Court creates a separate case. CBI may later connect fingerprint-supported arrest data with a disposition. None of those records alone tells the full story.
The records can also use different numbers. An incident number belongs to the investigating agency, a booking number belongs to the jail, and a case number belongs to the court. Give the matching identifier to each office. A wrong number can make a sound request appear to have no result.
Hinsdale Arrests Without a Roster
Hinsdale County publishes no jail roster, booking log, or mugshot gallery. It also operates no identified local jail. Call HCSO at 970-944-2291 with the person's name, approximate arrest time, and location, then ask which facility received the person. Gunnison Dispatch at 970-641-8200 handles nonemergency dispatch after business hours, but it is not the records desk.
Once HCSO identifies the receiving jail, use that facility's official custody tool or VINE. VINE covers participating county custody and notifications. It does not replace a jail record, and a name miss may reflect spelling or transfer.
Ask HCSO whether the person was released, transferred, cited, or taken to a facility. Those paths leave different records. A summons may create a later court matter without a local jail entry. Likewise, an arrest by a state or federal officer may send the incident request away from HCSO even if the event occurred near Lake City.
The official county-custody service is pictured below.
Search CDOC only when the person is serving or entering a state sentence.
Hinsdale County Arrest Lookups
No single portal covers a Hinsdale County arrest. Begin with the local custody question, then move through the agency, court, and statewide channels. Use a full name, exact date of birth when appropriate, approximate incident date, location, and report or case number when known.
- Call HCSO to identify the receiving jail because Hinsdale has no published roster.
- Ask that jail or VINE about current county custody and release notification.
- Email records@hinsdalecountysheriff.com for an HCSO incident or arrest report.
- Search the Combined Court docket or request an ROA and disposition if charges were filed.
- Use CBI's ICHC for statewide Colorado CHRI, then challenge missing data with official records.

State the incident type, date, time, place, names, agency, and report number. Say whether inspection, an electronic copy, paper, certification, photos, 911 audio, CAD log, or video is sought. Ask for an estimate before extensive search or redaction.
Arrest Records: What They Contain
The arresting officer records the event and alleged offenses. The receiving jail creates the booking record. Fields vary by custodian, but the items below form the normal trail documented for Hinsdale County. Charges at arrest are initial allegations and can differ from the complaint later filed in court.
| Booking number | The receiving jail's identifier, not a court case number. |
|---|---|
| Booking date and time | Records intake and helps distinguish arrest cycles. |
| Arresting agency | Identifies the custodian of the incident report. |
| Charges | Lists initial allegations; filed counts may change. |
| Bond | Shows bond terms when the jail or court makes them public. |
| Booking photo | May be held by the receiving jail; Hinsdale posts no gallery. |
| Release status | Shows release, transfer, or current custody where available. |
Hinsdale Arrest Report Custodians
HCSO cannot supply a report created by every officer who works in the county. Request a State Patrol report from CSP Central Records. Send a federal officer's report request through the proper U.S. Forest Service or BLM process. The receiving jail holds intake and custody material. The Combined Court holds filed charges and rulings.
Colorado DMV has a separate crash-record hub for official crash copies. DR 2559 and DR 2489 or consent rules apply by request type, and a crash may take up to 90 days to appear.
The DMV request channels pictured below should not be confused with an HCSO arrest report.
Send each request to the office that created or keeps that record.
Recent Hinsdale County Bookings
There is no official Hinsdale County booking log to refresh. For a recent arrest, call HCSO first, identify the receiving jail, and then use that facility or VINE. If prosecutors file charges, a Judicial docket or ROA becomes a second confirmation channel. It is a court trail, not a live custody roster.
A recent arrest may not reach CBI's ICHC at once. Fingerprints must be transmitted and records processed. Likewise, a person released or transferred may disappear from a current-custody search. An absent name proves neither that no arrest occurred nor that a case was cleared.
Bench warrants add another limit. Hinsdale County has no public warrant database, while CCIC and NCIC are justice-agency systems. The court warns that an outstanding judgment warrant or warrant cannot be paid online. Contact the issuing court and HCSO for current appearance, bond, surrender, and clearance instructions. A web search cannot establish that no warrant exists.
Hinsdale Arrests in CBI Records
The Internet Criminal History Check searches Colorado CHRI by name and date of birth. The public price is $13 per viewed result. It excludes sealed cases, juvenile arrests, and traffic arrests made when the subject was under 16. It is Colorado-only and cannot be notarized.
The ICHC interface pictured below is best used for personal review with exact identity data.
If an outcome is missing, get the court disposition and use CBI's challenge process. A CBI result does not supply HCSO's narrative.
Arrest Records vs Conviction Records
An arrest records an officer's action and possible booking. A conviction records a court's finding of guilt. Prosecutors may decline charges, filed counts may be dismissed, and a trial may end in acquittal. Read the court disposition before drawing a conclusion from the first allegation.
| Arrest Record | Conviction Record |
|---|---|
| Created by an arresting agency and receiving jail | Created by the Combined Court |
| Proves an arrest or booking was recorded | Proves guilt by plea or verdict |
| Lives with HCSO, another agency, or jail | Lives with the court and may flow to CBI |
| May lead to release, no filing, or dismissal | May lead to sentence, appeal, or sealing |
Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt; verify the filed charge and final disposition with the Hinsdale Combined Court.
When Hinsdale Arrests Stay Visible
A dismissed or sealed case can appear differently across a court ROA, HCSO file, CBI CHRI, and older commercial data. First identify which product still shows it. Obtain the signed sealing order and confirm delivery to the court, CBI, and original agency.
CBI's court-order sealing information pictured below explains its part of the process.
Sealing limits public disclosure but does not always erase authorized justice-system access.
Fingerprint Review for Hinsdale Arrests
CABS uses CBI-approved IdentoGO and Colorado Fingerprinting vendors. A Colorado-only individual public fingerprint request is listed at $16.50, plus any vendor charge. No fixed enrollment site was verified in Hinsdale County, so a Lake City resident may need a regional site.
The official CABS vendor page shown below lists current channels and fees.
Fingerprint review helps confirm identity when a common name produces doubt. It remains a Colorado record, not an FBI nationwide history.
